Book Manuscript Workshop with Professor Zelideth Maria Rivas
How do you turn your dissertation intoa book? What does a book look like versus a dissertation? Come to hear our discussion and give feedback to Assistant Professor Zelidth Maria Rivas, Department of Modern Languages at Marshall University who is sharing her book proposal and book chapters for this workshop. Even if your research areas are not about Latin America, Japanese diaspora, Latina/o Studies, Asian American Studies, or Brazillian literature and culture, come to discuss and hear some general suggestions about the purpose, readership, components, and the submission process of book proosals and manucripts. Book editors are usually not specialsts in your field (or even your discipline), so your feedback is valuable regardless of your research expertise. Please email Professor Lynn itagaki at itagaki.5@osu.edu for a copy of the book proposal and chapters which will be avilable May 4th. Light refreshments provided. Zelideth Maria Rivas is an Assistant Professor ofJapaenese at Marshall Univesrity. Her research focuses on the conception of race through literatuere written by Asian immigrants in the Americas, as well as the representation of race in Japan in post-World War II literature and film. her work has appeared in Journal of Asian American Studies, Asian American Literary Review, and Comparative Literature Studies. She is a member of the Executive Council for the Asia in the Americas section of the Latin American Studies Associaton.
