Call for papers: International Conference on Asian American Literature

International Conference on Asian American Literature in the 21st Century
Beijing, May 27-29
Co-Sponsored by Beijing Foreign Studies University, & St. Thomas University, Florida
Co-Directors: Wu Bing (BFSU) & Guiyou Huang (STU)
Asian American literature is American literature but it is intrinsically
connected to Asian cultures, literatures, philosophies, histories, and
geographies. Scholars and critics have written extensively about
many obvious and important links between Asian American
writings and Asian countries. This conference, the first major
international conference on Asian American literature to be held
in an Asian country, is planned for three days that include some
sightseeing and entertainment. Registration fee is USD200 ($150
for non-speakers) that includes meals for the three days of the
conference, transportation to tour sites, and entertainment.
Topics for the conference will cover but are not limited to the
following areas:
- Asian/American cross-cultural connections
- Asian America and East Asia
- Asian America and South/Southeast Asia
- Chinese and Asian Diasporas
- Sino-US relations and Chinese American literature
- Bilingualism and Asian American Writings
- Asian Immigration and Immigrant literature
- Orientalism
- Colonialism and Postcolonialism
- Theory and Practice
