VISITING PROFESSOR OF SOCIOLOGY
Antioch College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology to begin September 1, 2006. This position may be renewed, contingent on funding and successful performance. The successful candidate may be expected to teach upper level (sophomore, junior, senior) courses from the following areas: social inequalities, social theory, and research methods. A PhD. in Sociology is preferred, although an advanced ABD will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to incorporate race/ethnicity, education, multicultural or international issues into their teaching and research. Antioch College is undergoing a curricular transformation to a more integrative learning model. As a result, interest in collaborative teaching is highly desirable. The position will work closely with a number of programs.
Candidates should indicate additional programs or areas of interest to which they can contribute. Teaching load is six courses, including a senior seminar offered by the faculty for all senior students, and supervision of senior projects. Additionally, candidates will be responsible for advising students.
Candidates should submit 1) a letter of interest, 2) a vita, 3) evidence of teaching effectiveness including course evaluations and syllabi, 4) unofficial copies of graduate transcripts, and 5) three letters of recommendation to the address below. Official copies of graduate transcripts will be required at the time of appointment. The search committee will review applications until the position is filled.
